Can I switch patches without StompIO?

The Amplitube 3 maunal and the addendum, what's new in 3.5 have left me wondering how to use the new patch function. I have a FCB1010 and I want to send PC messages and have it select patches. It looks like I need to have one of the stompio or the stealhpedal to do this. is that correct?
