Ignite Amps NRR1 - FREE 3 ch. tube preamp

Postby Alu » Fri Nov 12, 2010 10:54 am

Ok guys, for me, this is without a doubt the most important thread I've ever opened in this community...

After 11 months of work, I'm proud to release my first amp simulator: NRR1

Main features
− Dynamic 12AX7 / ECC83 coupled triode stages analog modeling
− Three channels: clean, rhythm and lead, each with fully separated controls
− Selectable Mono / Stereo processing support
− Selectable oversampling rate (up to 8x)
− Global input / output level controls
− Double precision floating point operations support
− Fully automatable controls

Fully coded in C++ using the Steinberg VST SDK 2.4

GUI Rear:

Alternative GUI front:

Alternative GUI rear:

Make sure to read the manual, expecially the part about input / output levels and volume controls.
Follow the instructions to install it (just copy the file into your VST folder), use the NRR1_NoSSE.dll file only if you have a really old machine without SSE support.
DO NOT COPY BOTH DLLs INTO YOUR VST FOLDER TO AVOID POSSIBLE DAW ISSUES ON PLUGIN RECOGNIZING

I'd like to thank, once again, LePou and Onqel for their help and suggestions and for all the interesting discussions we had about analog modeling.
Thanks to Junior Paiz too for his tests and feedback.

Enjoy

NOTE: remember that this plugin is a preamp simulator, so you'll need to use a cabinet simulation after it. Best to use an Impulse Response based plugin, like LeCab from LePou.

Thanks this looks very promising.(superb Gui)
Wow I didn't know you were doing such an amp sim. :D Since you know exactly what you are doing professionally, this sim should sound the best. I will try it today.

Congratulations Alu!
Great very detailed work and made with passion devoted to the tube sound.
On first run it works great and love the feeling, It definitely has that Tube sag...
The clean channel is great too.

here is a quick run sample.

Used TS9 from Mocafix in front of the amp.

Thank you!

edit: one little request. It is possible to brighten the GUI a little bit ?
It seems too dark.

@Dimi: I would have bet my ass you would be the first posting a sample, Dimi

Glad you are liking it and the comment about the feeling is the most important for me, since the feeling is what I've been trying to get since the beginning and getting this kind of comment from a really skilled and experienced guitarist like you, makes me happy. A lot.

Great clip, as usual!

About the GUI, if you don't mind, I want to wait what the other says. If it is a common issue, I'll bright it up.

@Scottxx: thanks for your comment, let me know what do you think!
What a secret you had for months !!

Believe me, it has been really hard to keep this secret

 Yeah, my addiction to the guitar software is fabulous :eye:

The feelings is the most important thing for me too. It has something in the low end that I like and love the little "tube" compression with a little more gain . It doesn't sounds lifeless - static and sterile.
Many amp sims can emulate the overall tonal character but they sounds almost like solid state build preamps.

You have achieved this feeling.
Great job again!

It's really a fantastic versatile amp.
Sounds great!!
And...works fine on Sonar 8.5 8)
Very authentic rock amp.
Congratulation for the competitive amp sim.

I really enjoy the detail manaul. Lots of helpful tips within.
('88 boutique preamp, anyone good at guitar preamp history knows which preamp is it modelled after?)

The label on the GUI is a bit blurry.

Which IR do you suggest to recreate your sound??
And I'm looking forward to Alu's official sound clips too.

Thanks!!

Ahah! I'm a professional developer actually (since almost 5 years), although I work in Java. C++ was new for me and it has been (and still is) a pain in the ass

Dimi wrote:A few more samples :)

Jeeeez... talk about dynamics! What channel were you using on the 2nd sample?
Dimi, I'd love to put some of your samples on the site when it will be up (still working on it). Thanks for showing me that NRR1 can do more than chugga-chugga! I didn't know it

@wicked_hobbit: strange! It is working for me! The site should show just a black page with the Ignite Amps logo, since it is still on the work. Care to try again?

@Vicnest: thanks, glad it works on Sonar 8.5, I couldn't try it on that DAW.
About the preamp, put an "X" before the year number and a "R" after and maybe you can get the solution
Beware that, as it is written on the manual, just the "core" is based on that, but it is still quite a bit different, for various reasons (space, weight, player, ecc.)

If you guys have issues downloading the file, I can set up another link.
But the one on the first post should work...

Let me know

For me this is another proof of "analog modeling" and it's quality over the simple waveshaper guys

Liking it, very good work on the tone, works perfectly in the context!
I'll end up asking presets for my own amp sim in this thread

Thanks John!
Analog modeling rulez! And one day we're gonna get our ass kicked by the waveshaper guys pissed off about these comments
Remember the analogy you told me some days ago "releasing a plugin is like cumming all day long"? I can confirm it is true  . Although it will stop at the first negative comment... oh, whatever!
